Author Margo Sorenson Speaks to Students

By Leigh Roberts
What if magic glasses could allow us to see into each other’s imaginations? What if we watered the seeds of our ideas with curiosity to help them blossom into full-blown stories? Children’s book author and former English teacher, Margo Sorenson shared just how powerful our imaginations can be as she popped in for a virtual author visit this week.
Ms. Sorenson encouraged our kindergarteners, first graders, and second graders to wonder “What if…” to help them generate ideas for stories. She also shared that although the writing process may be messy and challenging at times, we all have rich imaginations and the power to create wonderful stories with a little bit of hard work and determination.

A great big thank you to Ms. Sorenson for taking time to visit her former students (and JTD employees!) Head of School Rose Helm, School Nurse Kristen Venick, and School Counselor Erika Forsyth and all our Greyhound readers and writers for an informative and inspiring presentation! Additional thanks to our faculty, staff, and the Parents' Association Library Committee for their support to help make Margo’s visit such a success!
